About Me

Chris Presta

Holistic Strength Coach

My whole life has always revolved, and will continue to revolve, around fitness. I don’t stress over finding the time to work out or go for walks, these habits are as important to me as any other daily habit. However, I will say that early on in my life I definitely took lifestyle and nutrition for granted.

A couple of monumental events in my life prompted me to re-examine my attitude toward lifestyle and nutrition. The first of which was being diagnosed with Type 1 (formerly known as juvenile diabetes) and the second was having children (I have 3 girls). These events have helped me to appreciate the quality of the exercise and nutrition I get much more than the quantity. They have also prompted me to earn the designation of Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.) with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.  My studies have reinforced my belief that the best approach to optimal health is a holistic one, in which no one factor should be considered more valuable than any other. A healthy, fulfilled, active life must be supported by a solid nutrition and spiritual foundation.

When I began my fitness career, I had a modest goal of being the personal trainer who knew everything there was to know about health and fitness. I can say with 100% certainty that I do not yet know everything, but I am grateful for the knowledge I do have and that I am able to help others every day with their journey through fitness and nutrition. I am proud to consider myself a perpetual student of all things health and fitness.

With over 25 years of athletics and fitness training experience, a decade of which has been working directly with clients, I can say with confidence that simple is still best. I consider myself a fitness minimalist. As far as reaching your optimal fitness level is concerned you really only need a couple of tools. The majority of my training programs include kettlebells, free weights, clubbells, macebells and bodyweight. Simple yes, but not easy.

I've had the pleasure of being personally certified by kettlebell pioneer Steve Maxwell. This fitness industry icon was a founding member of the Russian Kettlebell Certification, which was the first kettlebell authority in the industry. Maxwell is credited with being the very first person to run kettlebell classes in North America. He's still teaching and lecturing and walking the talk in his late 60's and he continues to inspire me in so many ways.
